The University of Strathclyde’s Bahrain campus invites applications for the position of Senior Teaching Fellow / Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering. This role forms part of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at a pivotal early stage of the campus’s development and offers a leadership opportunity to shape academic practice and high-quality teaching on an international platform. The successful candidate will play a central role in delivering core undergraduate civil engineering modules consistent with professional degree frameworks, including topics such as structures, geotechnics, materials/environmental science, surveying, hydraulics and hydrology, and sustainable development. You will work collaboratively within an integrated faculty team spanning Bahrain and the Glasgow campus to co-develop teaching materials, assessments, and academic support mechanisms, while also contributing to curriculum evolution and related subject areas aligned with your expertise. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should hold a doctoral degree (PhD) in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline. Equally strong candidates may demonstrate equivalent professional qualifications with substantial higher education experience commensurate with the seniority of the role. A commitment to inclusive education, academic leadership, and collaboration across a multicultural academic community is essential.

Required expertise/skills

  • Established experience in delivering high-quality undergraduate civil engineering education across key core subject areas.
