General Description:
King’s College London is seeking an Interim Senior Business Operations Officer to join the School of Basic & Biomedical Sciences within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine. This is a fixed-term or secondment opportunity available until 30 September 2026, supporting a dynamic academic and research-focused environment.
The School is home to leading academics and researchers working across a wide spectrum of biomedical sciences, from molecular disease mechanisms to clinical applications. The successful candidate will join a professional services team of over 20 staff supporting academic delivery and research operations.
The role involves providing comprehensive HR and administrative support across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, promotions, and staff engagement processes. The post holder will work closely with the School HR Manager and contribute to the effective delivery of HR operations, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and governance requirements.
Additionally, the role supports broader administrative functions within the School, including engagement with the Centre of Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine. The position requires proactive coordination, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Flexible working arrangements are available, including hybrid working (60% on-campus, 40% remote) following initial training.
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) offered on a fixed-term contract until 30 September 2026. This vacancy is open to internal applicants only.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Experience supporting HR operational processes across the employee lifecycle, preferably within higher education
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across complex organisations
- High level of organisational ability with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
- Experience tracking HR data and ensuring compliance with governance requirements
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong IT proficiency, including experience with databases, management information systems, and Excel
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience managing financial data in support of HR functions
- Familiarity with SharePoint, Viva Engage, PowerApps, or CoPilot
- Relevant qualification in HR, business operations, or administration, or evidence of continued professional development

Salary Details:
£38,482 – £43,249 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
