The University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a Research Technology Specialist to contribute to advanced research infrastructure and technology development within an internationally collaborative scientific environment. The role is associated with cutting-edge initiatives supporting life sciences data, tools, and computational platforms, including contributions to large-scale European research programmes.
The post-holder will be responsible for supporting, developing, and maintaining research technologies, ensuring their effective integration into scientific workflows. The position involves collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams, facilitating access to data resources, and contributing to the development of innovative tools and services that advance biological and biomedical research. The role also includes engaging with stakeholders across academia and research infrastructures, supporting best practices, and contributing to training and outreach activities.
The successful candidate will work within a highly collaborative environment, contributing to the translation of research requirements into technical solutions and supporting the long-term sustainability of research services and infrastructure.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should hold a relevant degree (or equivalent experience) in bioinformatics, computer science, life sciences, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification or equivalent research experience is typically expected. Candidates must demonstrate experience working in a research or technical environment, preferably within academic or large-scale collaborative projects.
Required Expertise/Skills
Strong experience in research technology development, data management, or bioinformatics tools
Proficiency in programming/scripting languages and working with scientific data platforms
Experience supporting or deploying computational infrastructure or data services
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and international teams
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Experience contributing to research projects, training, or community engagement activities is desirable
