The University of Birmingham is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow within the School of Government to contribute to a defined research project. This role is positioned within an academic, non-clinical setting and offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic research environment at a leading global institution.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for conducting research aligned with the project’s objectives, including the analysis of samples generated through an ongoing speed-breeding experiment managed within the research team. The role involves contributing to the delivery of high-quality research outputs, supporting ongoing project activities, and collaborating with academic colleagues.

The post holder will be expected to operate within the specified research area, contribute to the advancement of the research programme, and support dissemination of findings through appropriate academic channels. Additional responsibilities may include assisting in the preparation of research publications, contributing to grant applications, and engaging in broader academic activities within the School.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should hold a relevant degree in a related field and typically possess, or be close to completing, a PhD or equivalent qualification in a discipline aligned with the research area. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research and contribute effectively to collaborative academic projects.

Required expertise/skills
Candidates should have strong analytical and research skills, with experience in data analysis and handling research samples. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to present research findings clearly. The role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines. Familiarity with academic research methodologies and publication processes is highly desirable.
