General Description
The University of York invites applications for a full-time Research Associate position in Reservoir Computing within the Department of Computer Science. This fixed-term role is part of an advanced research project exploring innovative computational paradigms, particularly focusing on reservoir computing approaches and their applications in modern artificial intelligence and machine learning systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at developing and analyzing novel reservoir computing models, with applications potentially spanning time-series prediction, dynamical systems, and efficient AI architectures. The role involves designing, implementing, and evaluating computational models, as well as contributing to theoretical advancements in the field.

The postholder will collaborate closely with academic staff and interdisciplinary research teams, contribute to high-quality publications, and participate in dissemination activities including conferences and workshops. The position also offers opportunities to further develop expertise in machine learning, dynamical systems, and computational modelling within a leading academic research environment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A PhD (or near completion) in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline
  • Strong background in machine learning, computational neuroscience, dynamical systems, or related areas
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting independent academic research

Required Expertise/Skills

  • Knowledge of reservoir computing, neural networks, or related machine learning techniques
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., Python or similar scientific computing languages)
  • Experience with modelling, simulation, and data analysis
  • Ability to develop and evaluate computational models
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team
  • Experience in academic writing and publishing is desirable

Salary Details
Grade 6: £37,694 to £46,049 per annum
