General Description
The University of Bath invites applications for a Research Associate in Biopharmaceutics (Chemistry) to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team within the Department of Life Sciences. This role is part of an EPSRC-funded project focused on developing a transformative platform for injectable medicines, aiming to reformulate IV therapeutics for both community and hospital administration using automated manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will explore drug/tissue interactions and absorption following subcutaneous administration, contributing to the design of next-generation injectable therapies. The position offers the opportunity to work with diverse drug classes, including small molecules, biologics, and advanced formulations such as nanoparticles, using state-of-the-art equipment such as the Sub-cutaneous Injection Site Simulator (SCISSOR). Responsibilities include evaluating diffusion characteristics, assessing physicochemical properties, characterizing drug stability and degradation, and contributing to translational research with clinical and industrial relevance.

Eligibility Criteria

  • PhD in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Health Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in formulation science or chemical analysis.
  • Experience in PKPB modelling is desirable.

Required expertise/skills

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in formulation science and chemical analysis.
  • Ability to apply analytical techniques to evaluate drug stability, degradation, and absorption.
  • Experience working with diverse drug classes and advanced formulations.
  • Capability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting results and contributing to publications.

Salary details
Starting from £38,784, rising to £46,049 per annum (Grade 7).
