The University of Sheffield is seeking a talented and motivated Research Associate to join an interdisciplinary research project focused on the development of advanced bio-nanomaterials. The role is based within a leading research environment and involves contributing to innovative work at the interface of materials science, nanotechnology, and biological systems.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, synthesising, and characterising bio-nanomaterials for cutting-edge applications, potentially including biomedical, sensing, or environmental technologies. Responsibilities include planning and conducting experimental research, analysing and interpreting complex data, maintaining accurate laboratory records, and contributing to the dissemination of research findings through high-quality publications and presentations. The role also involves collaboration with academic partners and contributing to the wider research activities of the department.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Candidates should demonstrate a strong background in experimental research relevant to bio-nanomaterials or related fields.

Required Expertise/Skills
Experience in synthesis and characterisation of nanomaterials or biomaterials
Strong laboratory and experimental research skills
Knowledge of techniques such as microscopy, spectroscopy, or surface analysis
Ability to analyse complex datasets and interpret results
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals is desirable

Salary Details
£36,130 to £44,128 per annum (Grade 7)
