The recruitment drive for 2026 encompasses faculty appointments at four academic levels as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay matrix. Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in the relevant or allied discipline with first class (or equivalent) in preceding degrees. Qualifications, experience, age, and other eligibility conditions are as per NIT Statutes, UGC norms, and Schedule ‘E’ of the Institute’s amended statutes. Experience from reputable institutions, including Central/State Universities, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and research laboratories, is considered in accordance with norms.

Required Expertise, Skills
The positions span a broad spectrum of academic departments:

• Assistant Professor (Grade-II – Pay Level 10): Includes areas such as Biotechnology, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Humanities & Management, Industrial & Production Engineering, Information Technology, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics & Computing, and Textile Technology.
• Assistant Professor (Pay Level 12): Core engineering and computing areas including CSE, EE, ECE, IT, ICE, Mechanical, Mathematics & Computing, and Textile Technology.
• Associate Professor (Pay Level 13A2): Covers disciplines including Biotechnology, CSE, EE, ECE, Humanities & Management, IT, ICE, Mathematics & Computing, Textile Technology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Professor (Pay Level 14A): Senior faculty positions across Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, CSE, EE, ECE, Humanities & Management, Industrial & Production Engineering, IT, ICE, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics & Computing, Textile Technology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Salary Details
Remuneration for all positions will follow the academic pay levels as prescribed under the 7th CPC:

• Professor – Pay Level 14A
• Associate Professor – Pay Level 13A2
• Assistant Professor (Grade-I) – Pay Level 12
• Assistant Professor (Grade-II) – Pay Level 10
  In addition to basic pay, eligible allowances and benefits are applicable as per Institute and Government norms.
