Postdoctoral Scientist in Molecular Biology of Neoantigen pMHC-TCR Interactions in Sarcoma

The Sir William Dunn School of Pathology at the University of Oxford is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist to conduct molecular research extending neoantigen prediction, TCR selection, and pMHC-TCR molecular and cellular interactions. The project focuses specifically on neoantigens associated with chromosomal translocations in rare cancers, such as sarcoma.

The position is funded by collaborative grants aimed at developing the basic science and experimental framework for translating pMHC-TCR interactions into personalized TCR therapies. The post-holder will be based at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology and must be capable of working independently within a multi-disciplinary research group while maintaining strong collaborative links.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Managing academic research independently, adapting existing experimental protocols, and developing new scientific techniques.

  • Identifying, modifying, and applying laboratory techniques such as mammalian and bacterial protein expression, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and T-cell reporter assays to achieve project goals.

  • Presenting detailed research proposals to senior researchers and delivering talks at scientific meetings.

  • Demonstrating familiarity with intellectual property (IP) and writing up findings for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.

  • Providing high-quality research supervision as a key member of the research team.

This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment available for up to 24 months in the first instance, starting October 1, 2026. The Dunn School is committed to supporting the professional development of its postdoctoral researchers and offers a range of initiatives to launch future academic and research careers.

  • Hold, or be very close to completing, a PhD or DPhil directly relevant to the post.

  • Experience equivalent to a postdoctoral level is preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in laboratory molecular and cell biology techniques.

  • Specific experience in mammalian and bacterial protein expression, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and T-cell reporter assays.

  • Proven ability to work independently to solve complex experimental problems.

  • Strong track record of significant research outputs, such as peer-reviewed publications, patents, and conference proceedings.

  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills, including familiarity with IP management.

£40,514 per annum (Research Grade 7.2; Full Time; Fixed-Term for up to 24 months; Job Ref: 188132)
