The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Immune, Metabolic, and Severe Mental Illness Group led by Dr. Golam Khandaker. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge research investigating the complex links between immunity, metabolism, and severe mental illnesses such as depression and psychosis.

The role involves managing research projects, analyzing large-scale multi-omic and epidemiological datasets, leading high-quality publications, and contributing to ongoing grant applications. The successful postholder will join a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment situated within Oxford’s world-class psychiatric and biological research ecosystem.

This position is full-time (part-time hours at a minimum of 0.8 FTE will also be considered) and offered on a fixed-term contract until January 31, 2028.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Holds a PhD (or is near completion) in epidemiology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, neuroscience, psychiatry, or a closely related quantitative/biological discipline.

• Demonstrated research experience in immuno-psychiatry, psychiatric epidemiology, or multi-omics analysis.

• Strong publication record relative to career stage.

Required expertise/skills:

• Advanced skills in statistical programming and quantitative data analysis using tools such as R, Python, or Stata.

• Experience working with large health databases, cohort studies, or genomic/multi-omic datasets.

• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills suitable for academic publications and interdisciplinary research collaborations.

• Ability to work independently and manage research project timelines effectively.

Salary details: £39,424 to £47,779 per annum Oxford University Grade 7
