Position Overview
The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in Bioinformatics and Single-Cell Multiomics within the Faculty of Health Sciences. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team focused on analysing complex multi-omics datasets — including single-cell sequencing — to investigate leukemia biology, immune cell dynamics, and personalised disease mechanisms.
This role combines advanced computational analysis, method development, and integrative modelling to uncover biological insights from high-dimensional data. The position is embedded within a collaborative research environment with opportunities for scientific growth, publication, and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct data-driven research integrating single-cell and multi-omics datasets.
- Benchmark and develop statistical and machine-learning methods for multi-omics modelling.
- Interpret and visualise complex biological datasets to support research hypotheses.
- Prepare high-impact scientific publications and contribute to grant writing.
- Collaborate with research groups across computational biology, immunology, and clinical science.
- Participate in research meetings, seminars, and scientific communication activities.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (PhD) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a closely related field by the start date.
- Demonstrated expertise in bioinformatics and single-cell data analysis.
- Proficiency in scientific programming and statistical analysis (e.g., R, Python).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
