General Description
The University of Edinburgh is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the School of Genetics and Cancer. The successful candidate will contribute to advanced research activities within the School of Genetics and Cancer, working closely with academic researchers and multidisciplinary teams. The role involves designing and conducting independent and collaborative research, applying advanced scientific methodologies, and contributing to the overall objectives of the research programme.

Responsibilities include planning and executing experimental or analytical work, collecting and interpreting complex research data, and maintaining accurate documentation of research activities. The researcher will contribute to the preparation of research publications, reports, and presentations, ensuring that findings are communicated effectively within the scientific community.

The postholder will also collaborate with internal and external research partners, contribute to the supervision and mentoring of students or junior researchers when required, and participate in the broader academic activities of the department. The role requires maintaining high standards of research integrity, contributing to grant proposals where appropriate, and supporting the research environment of the School of Genetics and Cancer.

This is a full-time, fixed-term research position based in Edinburgh, providing an opportunity to work within a globally recognized research institution and contribute to impactful scientific advancements.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A PhD in Genetics, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting independent research within an academic or research institution.

  • Evidence of a strong research track record, including publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and research partners.

  • Experience contributing to research projects, data analysis, and scientific dissemination.

Required Expertise / Skills

  • Strong background in genetics, cancer research, or related biomedical fields.

  • Experience in experimental design, laboratory research, and data interpretation.

  • Proficiency in analysing complex biological datasets and scientific results.

  • Ability to prepare scientific manuscripts, technical reports, and presentations.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities.

  • Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative research environment.

Salary Details
£41,064 to £48,822 per annum
