General Description
The University of Exeter is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Environmental Intelligence to contribute to an innovative and interdisciplinary research programme within the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy. This fixed-term position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic research environment that integrates environmental science, data analytics, and computational approaches to address global environmental challenges.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing research aligned with the University’s Environmental Intelligence initiative, contributing to projects that leverage advanced data science, artificial intelligence, and environmental modelling. Responsibilities include designing and conducting high-quality research, analysing complex datasets, developing computational models, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications. The role also involves collaborating with academic and external partners, supporting grant applications, and contributing to the broader research culture of the faculty.
The postholder will engage in interdisciplinary collaboration across departments and may contribute to teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels where appropriate. Eligibility Criteria
A PhD (or nearing completion) in environmental science, data science, computer science, geography, or a closely related discipline
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and collaborative research
Strong interest in interdisciplinary environmental research
Required Expertise/Skills
Experience in data analysis, modelling, and/or machine learning techniques
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to publish in peer-reviewed academic journals
Experience working in collaborative research environments
Salary Details
£32,982 – £38,205 per annum (Grade E, depending on qualifications and experience)
