Postdoctoral Research Fellow

University of Exeter – Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy
Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom

General Description
The University of Exeter is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join its Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy. This full-time, fixed-term position is available from January 2026 and will run until December 2028.

The successful candidate will join the Tissue Biomechanics and Mechanobiology Group led by Associate Professor Junning Chen, contributing to an innovative research programme focused on collagen micromechanics in disease and tissue degeneration. The project aims to understand how collagen ultrastructure influences tissue mechanical function and how its disorganisation contributes to disease onset and progression.

The role involves conducting advanced experimental and computational research, contributing to ongoing projects, and supporting the development of new research initiatives. The postholder will be expected to present research findings, prepare publications, and contribute to funding proposals. They will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and engage with internal and external research stakeholders.

The University of Exeter is an equal opportunity employer and is recognised as a Disability Confident employer and an Athena Swan accredited institution. Applications from underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged. The institution offers a supportive research environment, flexible working options, generous annual leave, and comprehensive family-friendly policies.
