The University of Exeter’s interdisciplinary Living Systems Institute invites applications for a fixed‑term Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to advanced research on stem cell biology in invertebrates. This Leverhulme Trust–funded position involves both experimental laboratory work and computational analysis as part of a collaborative research programme. The role encompasses developing research objectives, contributing to project planning, and regularly communicating complex conceptual ideas within the research team. Fellows will play a key role in designing and executing experiments, analysing data, and contributing to project publications and presentations. The successful candidate will also collaborate across disciplines and may supervise and mentor junior researchers as needed.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent qualification/experience) in a related discipline; candidates nearing submission of their PhD may also be considered if they can demonstrate substantial relevant expertise. The role requires a strong academic record and the ability to engage in independent research as well as collaborative scientific inquiry.

Required expertise/skills

  • Specialist knowledge in molecular biology and invertebrate stem cell research or closely related areas.

  • Proficiency with experimental laboratory techniques such as transcriptomics and next‑generation sequencing (NGS) methods.

  • Competence with computational tools and programming environments such as R, Unix or Python for data analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop research programmes, identify sources of funding, and present research findings at academic meetings.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Salary details 
Salary for Postdoctoral Research Fellows at the University of Exeter typically corresponds to Grade F (approx. £41,732 per annum), depending on qualifications and experience; actual salary to be confirmed on appointment.
