General Description
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position within the MEMELAND (Molecular Ecology of Medieval European Landscapes) project at the Institute of Archaeology, University of Oxford. This role focuses on advancing interdisciplinary research into medieval landscapes using molecular ecology approaches, with a particular emphasis on palynology.
The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research exploring environmental and ecological transformations in medieval Europe. The role involves conducting independent and collaborative research, contributing to project development, and supporting the broader objectives of the MEMELAND programme. The postholder will work closely with an established academic team, engaging in data collection, analysis, and interpretation within a highly interdisciplinary research environment.
This is a full-time position offered at Research Grade 7 and provides an opportunity to work within a globally recognized research institution with strong emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence.
Eligibility Criteria
- A completed PhD (or near completion) in a relevant discipline such as archaeology, palaeoecology, environmental science, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated research experience relevant to molecular ecology or palynology
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Strong academic track record, including publications or equivalent research outputs
Required Expertise/Skills
- Expertise in palynology and/or molecular ecology techniques
- Experience in environmental reconstruction and analysis of ecological datasets
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Ability to manage research tasks, timelines, and deliverables effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable for academic audiences
- Capacity to contribute to collaborative research projects and interdisciplinary initiatives
Salary Details
£39,424 – £47,779 per annum (Research Grade 7)
