University of Oxford – Centre for Medicines Discovery (CMD)

Oxford, England, United Kingdom

General Description
The University of Oxford is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Centre for Medicines Discovery (CMD). The position focuses on the application of crystallographic fragment screening (XChem) to develop inhibitors targeting the transcriptional regulator of Neisseria gonorrhoeae Mtr, contributing to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research.

This role is funded by the Ineos Oxford Institute for Antimicrobial Research and offers an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment. The successful candidate will contribute to structure-based drug discovery efforts, working closely with other researchers, including a parallel postdoctoral researcher based in the Department of Pharmacology who will develop complementary assays.

The position provides access to advanced research infrastructure and supports collaboration across departments, enabling cutting-edge work in structural biology and drug discovery.

[Eligibility Criteria]
Applicants should hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in a relevant discipline such as structural biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field.

[Required expertise/skills]
Demonstrated experience in protein crystallography and structural biology
Knowledge of fragment-based drug discovery approaches
Experience in biochemical or biophysical techniques relevant to drug discovery
Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary research teams
