Aarhus University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship on a fixed-term contract within the research project “Locally Crafted.” This interdisciplinary project focuses on local production, craftsmanship, and sustainable practices, exploring how locally grounded initiatives contribute to broader socio-economic and environmental transitions.

The successful candidate will be embedded in a vibrant research environment and will work closely with project leaders and collaborators across disciplines. The role involves conducting independent and collaborative research aligned with the project’s objectives, including qualitative and/or quantitative data collection, analysis, and interpretation. The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to advancing theoretical and empirical understanding of local production systems and sustainability transitions.

Key responsibilities include producing high-quality academic outputs such as peer-reviewed journal articles, participating in international conferences, and contributing to project dissemination activities. The fellow may also support teaching activities, supervision of students, and engagement with external stakeholders where relevant.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A PhD in a relevant field such as anthropology, sociology, human geography, development studies, or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting independent academic research
  • Interest in themes related to local production, sustainability, and socio-economic development

Required expertise/skills

  • Strong qualitative and/or quantitative research skills
  • Experience with fieldwork, data collection, and analysis
  • Ability to develop and publish high-quality academic research
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary research teams
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement or applied research is an advantage

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable Danish collective agreement
