General Description:
The University of Nottingham, in partnership with the NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) and the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration East Midlands (ARC EM), is offering a fully funded PhD studentship. This joint award provides an opportunity to develop a research career in primary care with a particular focus on healthy ageing. The studentship includes home tuition fees and an annual tax-free stipend at UKRI rates. International applicants are welcome; however, they must demonstrate the ability to fund any additional fees beyond the home rate. The studentship will commence on 1 October 2026 and combines project-specific training in areas critical to primary care, as outlined in the SPCR Trainee guidance.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A first degree in a relevant discipline such as public health, medical statistics, social sciences, health economics, health psychology, or a clinical background.
  • Commitment to completing a PhD within the award period.

Required Expertise/Skills:

  • Strong academic record and research aptitude in primary care or related fields.
  • Capacity to engage in interdisciplinary research and applied primary care projects.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills for both independent and collaborative research.

Salary Details:

  • Annual tax-free stipend at UKRI rates.
  • Tuition fees covered at the home rate; international students must provide evidence of funding for additional fees.
