PhD Studentship in Novel Graphene Field-Effect Transistors for RF to THz Electronics and Biosensing Applications
University of Plymouth
Location: Plymouth, United Kingdom
General Description:
The University of Plymouth is offering a fully funded PhD studentship focused on the development of novel graphene field-effect transistors (GFETs) for applications in radio frequency (RF) to terahertz (THz) electronics and advanced biosensing technologies. This research project is positioned at the forefront of nanotechnology and electronic engineering, aiming to explore the exceptional electrical, optical, and sensing properties of graphene-based devices.
The project will involve the design, fabrication, and characterisation of graphene-based electronic devices capable of operating at high frequencies, with potential applications in next-generation communication systems and sensitive biological detection platforms. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary research environment, collaborating with experts in materials science, nanofabrication, and electronic engineering.
Key responsibilities include conducting experimental and theoretical research, developing fabrication techniques for GFET devices, analysing device performance across RF to THz regimes, and contributing to scientific publications and dissemination activities. The candidate will also engage with advanced laboratory facilities and participate in the broader research community within the institution.
This studentship provides an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in cutting-edge semiconductor research and its applications in both electronics and biosensing domains.
