PhD Studentship – Examining the High‑Performance Environment in Aquatics GB – A Qualitative Co‑Produced Study

Manchester Metropolitan University – Institute of Sport
Manchester, United Kingdom

General Description
A funded PhD opportunity is available within the Institute of Sport at Manchester Metropolitan University in partnership with Aquatics GB, aimed at investigating high‑performance sport environments within Aquatics GB through a qualitative, co‑produced research project. This doctoral research will examine how female high‑performance environments across aquatic disciplines are created, experienced, and enacted by key stakeholders, including athletes, coaches, and senior leaders. Through a multi‑method qualitative approach that includes interviews, observations, surveys, and organisational analysis, the study will generate evidence to inform organisational practices, policies, and coach education that support effective high‑performance systems for women in elite aquatic sport. As part of this research, candidates will work closely with Aquatics GB practitioners and gain access to world‑class performance settings, contributing to knowledge exchange and impact within the sport sector. The successful researcher will engage with a vibrant doctoral community, benefit from excellent facilities and professional development support, and be encouraged to disseminate findings through high‑quality publications and conference presentations.
