General Description
The National Institute of Technology Puducherry (NIT Puducherry) has announced an opportunity for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. NIT Puducherry is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, committed to excellence in engineering education, research, and innovation.
The position is offered under a sponsored research project funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India. The project is titled “Development of Smart Monitoring and Protection System for Grid Integrated Renewable Energy Systems.”
The research project focuses on the design and development of intelligent monitoring and protection solutions for renewable energy systems integrated with power grids. The work involves developing advanced algorithms and system models to enhance reliability, efficiency, and stability in renewable energy-based power systems.
The selected candidate will work under the guidance of the project investigator and will participate in research activities including system modeling, data analysis, development of monitoring algorithms, and preparation of research reports and publications. The candidate will gain exposure to cutting-edge research in renewable energy systems and smart grid technologies within a collaborative academic environment.
The appointment is temporary and will initially be offered for one year and may be extended based on satisfactory performance and the continuation of the project. The selected candidate may also have the opportunity to register for a PhD program at NIT Puducherry subject to meeting the institute’s admission requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a B.E./B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline along with an M.E./M.Tech. degree in Power Systems, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, or a relevant specialization.
Candidates must have a valid GATE qualification.
Required Expertise/Skills
Strong academic background in electrical engineering and power systems
Knowledge of renewable energy integration and smart grid technologies
Experience with system modelling and simulation tools relevant to power systems
Ability to conduct research, analyze data, and prepare technical documentation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic research environment
Salary Details
₹31,000 per month plus applicable House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per SERB norms.
