General Description
Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat has announced a research opportunity for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Electronics Engineering. SVNIT is one of the premier engineering institutions in India and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act.
The position is offered under a sponsored research project funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India. The research project is titled “Design and Development of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) Assisted Wireless Communication Systems.”
The project focuses on advancing next-generation wireless communication technologies through the design and development of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces for improved signal propagation, energy efficiency, and network performance. The selected candidate will actively contribute to research activities including system design, simulation, modelling, and analysis related to RIS-based wireless communication systems.
The Junior Research Fellow will work closely with the project investigator and research team, contributing to technical research tasks, preparing research documentation, and assisting in the dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic academic environment with access to research facilities and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The appointment is temporary and will initially be offered for one year and may be extended based on the candidate’s performance and availability of project funding. The selected candidate may also have the opportunity to register for a PhD program at SVNIT, subject to fulfilling the institute’s eligibility requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must possess a B.E./B.Tech. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or a related discipline along with an M.E./M.Tech. degree in Communication Systems, Signal Processing, or a closely related specialization.
Candidates must have a valid GATE qualification.
Required Expertise/Skills
Strong academic background in wireless communication systems
Knowledge of signal processing and communication engineering principles
Experience with simulation tools and programming environments used in communication system design
Ability to conduct independent research, technical analysis, and documentation
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively within a research team in an academic environment
Salary Details
₹31,000 per month plus applicable House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per SERB rules.
