Junior Faculty and Lab Assistant Recruit
The Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), an institution under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, invites applications for the positions of Junior Faculty and Lab Assistant at its Chennai campus in Kanchipuram. This recruitment is for ad-hoc engagement to meet urgent academic requirements for an initial period of up to 6 months, which may be extended based on institutional requirements.

Junior Faculty (Design Process domain)
Junior Faculty (Pattern Making and Garment Construction domain)
Lab Assistant (Pattern Making and Garment Construction domain)
Eligibility Criteria
Junior Faculty Positions: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (minimum 2 years’ duration) in a relevant subject such as Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Apparel Design, Fashion Technology, Fashion Management, Textile and Clothing, Lifestyle Accessory Design, Knitwear Design, Leather Design, Textile Design, Fine Arts, or an equivalent field, with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized university. A Doctoral degree in the relevant domain is highly desirable.
Lab Assistant Position: Candidates must have passed Class 8th; possession of a Class 10th pass certificate is considered desirable.
Required expertise/skills
Junior Faculty: A minimum of 3 years of academic and/or industry experience in the respective domain is required (academic experience must be at the undergraduate level or higher). Candidates applying for the Illustration and CAD domain must possess hands-on expertise in industry-standard software, including Corel, Photoshop, Tukacad, 2D/3D design software, and Illustrator.
Lab Assistant: Candidates must demonstrate practical proficiency in machine operation, garment and apparel pattern making, sample making, and student demonstration. Applicants should be capable of operating and repairing industrial sewing machines, specifically lock stitch, overlock, and flatlock machines.
Salary details
Junior Faculty: Rs. 50,000/- per month (consolidated).
Lab Assistant: Rs. 30,000/- per month (consolidated).
