General Description
The University of Oxford is seeking to appoint an Interim Head of Human Resources within the Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM), a globally recognised centre supporting world-class medical research across the UK and internationally. This is a senior leadership position, offered as a full-time contract role and available as a secondment opportunity for internal candidates.
The postholder will lead and oversee all HR operations within a large, complex, and internationally distributed workforce, including approximately 2,500 staff based overseas. Reporting to and working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Department, the Interim Head of HR will provide strategic leadership and expert advice on complex HR matters.
The role is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of HR services across the department, supporting organisational objectives, workforce planning, and the development of a high-performing and inclusive working environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving HR strategy, managing change initiatives, and ensuring compliance with employment policies and best practices within a large academic and research setting.

- Candidates must have significant senior-level experience in human resources leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience managing HR operations within large, complex organisations
- Proven ability to advise on and handle complex employee relations and organisational issues
- Experience working in academic, research, or similarly complex environments is highly desirable

Salary details
£56,623 to £65,336 per annum
