Assistant Professor (Contractual) – Chinese
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), a renowned central university, invites online applications for the temporary appointment of an Assistant Professor (Contractual) in Chinese in the Department of Foreign Languages, under the Faculty of International Studies.
According to Local Advertisement No. 01/2026, the appointment is purely contractual and temporary, valid until the end of the Academic Session or until the regular General Selection Committee convenes, whichever is earlier. The position is subject to termination without prior notice.

Eligibility Criteria
A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in Chinese from a recognized Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, such as SLET/SET.
Exemptions from NET/SLET/SET:
Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time.
Candidates registered for the Ph.D. program prior to July 11, 2009, subject to fulfillment of conditions regarding regular mode awarded degree, evaluation by external examiners, open viva voce, and research publication requirements.
Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) candidates are eligible to apply in accordance with prescribed guidelines.
Required expertise/skills
Advanced proficiency and academic command of the Chinese language, literature, and linguistics.
Strong teaching and communication capabilities suitable for higher education and university-level instruction.
Demonstrated research competence in foreign language instruction or comparative language studies.
