The University of Surrey’s Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE), a multidisciplinary research hub within the School of Engineering, is seeking a GCARE Project Officer to contribute to its research and project activities. GCARE drives cutting‑edge research in clean air and climate science, engaging with UKRI (EPSRC, NERC, ESRC), Horizon Europe, the British Council, industry partners, and other collaborators. The Project Officer will play a pivotal role in the operational management and delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects and initiatives aimed at expanding GCARE’s impact and research income. This includes managing ongoing projects such as SMART‑COAT, CDT in Aerosol Science, GP4Streets, and GREENIN, and supporting science communication, outreach activities, monitoring and control mechanisms, social media presence, and dissemination efforts. The role is designed for someone proactive who can work independently alongside GCARE team members and external partners, fostering partnership development and ensuring high‑quality project outcomes.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should be educated to Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree level (or equivalent) or hold relevant professional qualifications. Prior experience in project management or research support within academic or research environments is expected, ideally demonstrated through work on multidisciplinary projects.

Required Expertise, Skills
Strong project management skills are essential, including the ability to define project objectives, deliverables, and milestones, and to monitor and control project delivery while ensuring compliance with funding guidelines. Proven communication and dissemination skills are needed for managing digital platforms, preparing reports, engaging stakeholders, and enhancing GCARE’s visibility. Experience in developing research proposals, partnership building, and financial documentation for project claims are also important. The successful candidate must be capable of working collaboratively, demonstrating initiative, and contributing to impact activities across the research centre.

Salary Details 
The position is offered on a part‑time basis (0.5 FTE) with a pro‑rated salary range of £18,847 to £19,953 per annum.
