General Description:
IIT Bombay, established in 1958 as the second IIT in India and recognized as an Institute of National Importance, is inviting applications for faculty positions at the levels of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor. Openings span departments including Aerospace Engineering, Biosciences & Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Earth Sciences, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Energy Science and Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Operations Research, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering & Materials Science, and Physics. Candidates may also engage with specialized centers and schools such as the Ashank Desai Centre for Policy Studies, Centre for Climate Studies, Centre for Machine Intelligence and Data Science, Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship, IDC School of Design, and Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management.
Eligibility Criteria:
Ph.D. with first-class or equivalent in all preceding degrees and an excellent academic record.
Assistant Professor Grade I: Minimum 3 years post-Ph.D. teaching/research/professional experience.
Associate Professor: Minimum 6 years post-Ph.D., including 3 years at Assistant Professor Grade I level in IITs/IISc/IISERs/IIMs or equivalent institutions.
Professor: Minimum 10 years post-Ph.D., including 4 years as Associate Professor at IITs/IISc/IISERs/IIMs or equivalent institutions.
Required Expertise / Skills:
Demonstrated research capabilities with publications in reputed journals and conferences.
Teaching excellence at higher educational institutions.
Experience in supervising Ph.D. students (relaxable for industry candidates with exceptional research).
Desirable: Laboratory/course/technology development, innovation leading to patents, successful research funding, and external recognition in the field.
