This full-time postdoctoral position invites an ambitious early career neuroscientist to join the vibrant research community at the University of Sussex’s Brighton and Sussex Medical School. The role centres on advancing experimental neuroscience research within a collaborative academic environment and contributing to impactful scientific discoveries. The successful candidate will work with established research teams and benefit from access to cutting-edge facilities and expertise across Sussex Neuroscience, a network of interdisciplinary groups focused on understanding brain function and behaviour.

General Description
The post is based at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School campus, known for its interdisciplinary neuroscience research culture. This role involves delivering high-quality research, potentially in domains such as sensory neuroscience, neural circuits or related areas depending on the specific project and supervising team. The Fellow will contribute to experimental design, data collection and analysis, and support the dissemination of research outcomes through peer-reviewed publications and academic presentations. This position supports the development of a strong academic track record and fosters collaborations with peers across the Sussex neuroscience community.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should hold a relevant doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Neuroscience, Biological Sciences, Psychology, or a closely related discipline. A strong academic record and evidence of research capability are essential. Applicants are expected to demonstrate the ability to contribute creatively to the research agenda and to work effectively within collaborative research settings.

Required Expertise and Skills
The ideal candidate will have substantive experience in core neuroscience research techniques. This may include quantitative data analysis, experimental design, programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB or similar), electrophysiology, behavioural assays, imaging methods or other methodologies relevant to the specific research project. Strong scientific communication skills and the ability to work independently and collegially are valued.

Salary Details
This role is offered on Grade 7 with a salary range of approximately £38,784 to £46,049 per annum, pro rata if part-time.
