National Institute of Technology Delhi (an Institute of National Importance under the Government of India) has announced a focused faculty recruitment drive for 2026 inviting applications for multiple academic positions in key engineering and applied science disciplines. These opportunities span regular academic ranks as well as contract-based roles within the Institute’s vibrant research and teaching ecosystem.
This recruitment (Advertisement No. 01/2026) seeks candidates to strengthen the academic workforce in three core areas: Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Applications, and Mechanical Engineering. The call is open to qualified Indian nationals who hold a Ph.D. with outstanding academic records and research potential, and who are committed to contributing to high-impact education and research at a premier technical institute.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with first class (or equivalent) at preceding degrees from recognized institutions. Experience and credit point requirements are determined as per the National Institutes of Technology statutory provisions, including minimum post-Ph.D. experience and credit points for senior levels.
Required Expertise and Skills
Recruitment encompasses multiple specializations within each department:
- Computer Science & Engineering: areas such as algorithmic computer networks, software engineering, high-performance computing, machine learning, database systems, artificial intelligence, and analytics.
- Computer Applications: areas including high-performance computing, data analytics, blockchain, AI/ML, NLP and deep learning, cyber security, and mobile applications.
- Mechanical Engineering: expertise in design, thermal and safety engineering, robotics and automation, manufacturing, ergonomics and optimization.
A strong research profile, publications in reputable journals, and demonstrable teaching ability are expected for all designations, with credit points and experience thresholds scaled for each level.
Salary Details
Salaries and associated benefits follow the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Levels:
- Associate Professor: Level 13A2
- Assistant Professor Grade I: Level 12
- Assistant Professor Grade II (Contract): Level 10
In addition to basic pay, eligible faculty receive allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, LTC, medical benefits, children’s education reimbursement, and a Cumulative Professional Development Allowance as per institute norms.
