Position Overview
Human Technopole (HT) invites applications for Postdoctoral Research Associates in Genetic Epidemiology / Statistical Genetics to join the Zuccolo Group within the Health Data Science Centre (HDSC). HT is a rapidly expanding international life-science institute dedicated to advancing biomedical research and improving human health.
The HDSC, developed in partnership with Politecnico di Milano, aims to deliver a step-change in health data science in Italy by integrating large-scale clinical, molecular, behavioural, and environmental datasets.
Key Research Focus
The postdoctoral researcher will work on projects investigating:
- Genetic and environmental determinants of pregnancy and infant outcomes
- Barriers to and long-term effects of prolonged breastfeeding
- Impacts of emerging threats (e.g. COVID-19 and climate-related exposures) on maternal and child health
- Long-term cardiometabolic consequences of pregnancy complications in women
Responsibilities
The postdoctoral researcher will:
- Lead and implement statistical genetic analyses (GWAS, MR, co-localisation)
- Integrate genetic, molecular, and epidemiological datasets
- Develop robust analysis pipelines (R/Python)
- Collaborate with internal and international research teams
- Prepare high-impact publications and presentations
- Contribute to grant applications and new research initiatives
- Support open science, training activities, and student supervision
Supervision and Collaboration
The position is supervised by Dr. Zuccolo within the Health Data Science Centre, with extensive collaboration across Human Technopole and international partner institutions.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Genetic Epidemiology, Statistical Genetics, Biostatistics, Molecular Epidemiology, or related field
- Strong quantitative and statistical genetics background
- Experience with large-scale genomic and molecular datasets
- Proficiency in R and/or Python
- Proven publication record
- Fluency in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with eQTL or pQTL analyses
- Strong scientific writing and presentation skills
