Position Overview
The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) invites applications for fully funded postdoctoral researcher positions through the MSCA COFUND NOVEL Postdoctoral Programme, co-funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (Horizon Europe). These positions are located on the Kuopio campus and offer an excellent interdisciplinary research environment focused on brain health, data science, and innovation.
There are five (5) positions initially open in the research areas of Prevention & Care and Methods & Data. Recruited researchers will pursue independent research projects supported by mentoring, training, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Research Areas
Available positions fall within the following thematic areas:
- Prevention & Care
- Methods & Data
These areas span topics such as understanding genetic, lifestyle, and environmental contributors to brain disorders, and developing advanced computational methods for data analysis.
Positions will be hosted in research units such as the A.I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences or the School of Computing at UEF.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) at the time of application or by the call deadline
- Have less than 7 years of research experience since PhD completion
- Fulfil MSCA mobility rules (e.g., must not have resided or conducted main activities in Finland for more than 12 months in the 36 months prior to the deadline)
- Be capable of developing an independent research project within the NOVEL programme scope
Strong candidates come from disciplines such as neuroscience, computational science, data science, health sciences, biomedical research, and related fields.
