Position Overview
The Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work on sonochemical reaction engineering within Professor James Kwan’s Physical Acoustics Laboratory. This fixed-term research position is funded by Oxford University Innovations through the University Seed Challenge Fund and runs until 4 January 2027.
The successful candidate will contribute to optimising sonochemical systems for nitrogen fixation, utilising a wide range of bespoke reactors and analytical techniques to advance research in efficient non-thermal chemical processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct experimental campaigns focused on sonochemical nitrogen fixation and reaction engineering.
- Work with advanced sonochemical reactors and catalytic systems to improve reaction selectivity and efficiency.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and contribute to technology development.
- Present research findings and contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications
Required:
- A PhD or near completion in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Strong background in experimental chemistry, catalysis, and analytical methods.
Desirable:
- Experience in sonochemistry, acoustic reactors, or non-thermal reaction systems.
- Ability to independently plan and manage research projects.
