Position Overview
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work at the forefront of organic synthesis and chemistry automation. The successful candidate will contribute to research aimed at developing new synthetic methods and applying them in automated and high-throughput experimentation, including work toward autonomous platforms for discovering novel therapeutic agents.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute research in advanced organic synthesis under the direction of the principal investigator.
- Apply and refine synthetic methods in both conventional laboratory settings and automated/high-throughput experimental platforms.
- Analyze complex organic molecules using instrumental techniques and support data interpretation.
- Independently manage day-to-day research activities and propose innovative solutions to scientific problems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including artificial intelligence and biology research groups.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation and publication in scientific journals.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Organic Chemistry or a closely related discipline (or will be completed by the start date).
- Demonstrated expertise in complex molecule synthesis and synthetic method development.
- Strong laboratory skills in compound purification and structural analysis (e.g., NMR, HPLC, GC).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative research environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with laboratory automation, high-throughput experimentation, or related automation tools.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate synthetic chemistry with data-driven research approaches.
