Postdoctoral Researcher – Plant Cell Cycle and Development

Host Institution: Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research, Cologne, Germany
Principal Investigator: Prof. Detlef Weigel

Research Theme

Cell cycle regulation, developmental plasticity, and gene regulatory networks in plants.

Project Description

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position to study how cell cycle dynamics interact with developmental programs in plants. The project will investigate how proliferation, differentiation, and chromatin state transitions shape organ growth and patterning, using Arabidopsis as a model system.

The postdoc will design and lead independent research questions within the broader framework of the lab’s work on plant development and evolution.

Methods & Approaches

  • Plant genetics and molecular biology
  • Reporter lines and live imaging
  • Transcriptomics and functional genomics

Funding & Duration

  • Fully funded postdoctoral position
  • Duration: 2–3 years

Candidate Profile

  • PhD in Plant Biology, Developmental Biology, or related field
  • Strong publication record and motivation for independent research

Application

Deadline: 15 February 2026
