Research Support Officer – Faculty of English (Maternity Cover)

The University of Oxford is recruiting a Research Support Officer within the Faculty of English, based at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities. This fixed-term maternity cover role is designed to provide comprehensive administrative and operational support for research activity across a large and active academic faculty.
The postholder will serve as a central point of contact for research administration queries and will play a key role in supporting both internal and external research funding processes. Responsibilities include managing internal funding applications, assisting with external grant submissions, maintaining research information systems and intranet content, and supporting the coordination of research events, seminars, and conferences. The role also involves providing ongoing operational support for research projects and ensuring smooth administrative workflows within the faculty.
The position is part-time and contributes directly to enabling high-quality research output and academic engagement across the Faculty of English. The role requires close collaboration with academic staff, researchers, and professional services teams within a fast-paced and academically rigorous environment.
Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicants should be educated to degree level or equivalent
• Experience in administration within higher education or a similar complex organisation is required
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Experience handling research-related administration or funding processes is desirable

Salary Details
Grade 6: £35,681 – £41,636 per annum (pro rata)
