The University of Bath is inviting applications for a Research Associate or Senior Research Associate position within the Department of Computer Science. The role is part of an interdisciplinary research initiative focused on digital health, health data science, and the application of advanced computational methods to improve healthcare outcomes.

The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research involving the analysis of complex health datasets, development of computational models, and application of machine learning and data science techniques to address challenges in healthcare systems. The role is embedded within a collaborative research environment involving academic partners, healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary research teams.

The postholder will be responsible for contributing to research design, data collection and analysis, preparation of academic publications, and dissemination of research findings through conferences, journals, and stakeholder engagement activities. The role also includes supporting ongoing grant-funded research projects and contributing to the development of future funding proposals.

For candidates appointed at Senior Research Associate level, additional responsibilities may include leading specific work packages, supervising junior researchers, managing research activities, and contributing to strategic development of research outputs within the group.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline
  • For Senior Research Associate level, substantial postdoctoral research experience is required
  • Strong background in digital health, machine learning, or applied data science
  • Experience in research project delivery within academic or applied research settings

Required Expertise/Skills

  • Strong expertise in data science, machine learning, or computational modelling
  • Experience working with large-scale or complex health-related datasets
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar tools
  • Strong publication record or demonstrable research output (commensurate with career stage)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings to diverse audiences
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary research teams

Salary Details

  • Research Associate: £37,694 per annum
  • Senior Research Associate: £44,128 per annum
