The University of Gloucestershire is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant or Research Associate in Cyber Security to contribute to an innovative research project within its growing computing and technology research portfolio. This role offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative academic environment focused on advancing knowledge and practical solutions in cyber security, digital resilience, and related areas.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of funded research activities, including conducting literature reviews, designing and implementing experiments or analytical frameworks, and contributing to the development of research outputs. Responsibilities include analysing data, preparing reports and publications, assisting in dissemination activities, and collaborating with academic staff and external partners. The role may also involve supporting teaching-related activities and contributing to the wider research culture of the institution.

The position is offered on a fixed-term basis and may be appointed at either Research Assistant or Research Associate level depending on qualifications and experience. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should hold a degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline. A postgraduate qualification (Master’s or PhD) is desirable, particularly for appointment at Research Associate level. Candidates should demonstrate relevant research or project experience in cyber security or a related field.

Required Expertise/Skills
Knowledge of cyber security principles, threats, and mitigation strategies
Experience in conducting research or technical project work
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in relevant programming or technical tools
Ability to analyse and interpret complex data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team

Salary Details
£29,605 to £36,024 per annum (depending on level of appointment and experience)
