General Description
The University of Cambridge is seeking a Research Associate in Machine Learning for Healthcare to join a multidisciplinary research team working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and biomedical science. The position is based within a leading academic department and focuses on advancing machine learning methodologies to address complex challenges in healthcare and clinical data analysis.

The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research projects aimed at developing and applying novel machine learning techniques to large-scale biomedical and clinical datasets. Responsibilities include designing algorithms, implementing computational models, analysing high-dimensional datasets, and collaborating with clinicians, data scientists, and researchers across disciplines.

The role offers an opportunity to work in a highly collaborative and innovative environment, contributing to impactful research with real-world healthcare applications. The postholder will also be expected to publish findings in high-impact journals, contribute to grant proposals, and participate in academic activities within the department.

Eligibility Criteria

  • PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related discipline
  • Candidates nearing completion of their PhD may be considered, subject to confirmation of degree award
  • Demonstrated research experience in machine learning applied to healthcare or biomedical data

Required Expertise/Skills

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or similar
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and tools
  • Expertise in statistical modelling and data analysis
  • Experience working with large-scale or complex datasets, particularly in healthcare or biomedical domains
  • Ability to design and implement novel algorithms
  • Strong academic writing and publication record or potential
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Salary Details

  • £36,924 to £45,163 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience
