General Description:
The Oxford-Hyundai Motor Group Foresight Centre, funded by Hyundai Motor Group and based within the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Reporting to Centre Directors Rafael Ramirez and Trudi Lang, and working closely with Benn Lawson, the post holder will lead and contribute to research on the Futures of Work, as part of the Centre’s programme on foresight and business strategy.

The role involves conducting rigorous foresight research on high-impact topics, particularly examining:

  • The nature and meaning of work, including implications for family members
  • Employee-employer contracts and employment models
  • Labour assumptions in business models, outsourcing, and internal employment
  • Roles of unions, government policies, and regulatory frameworks
  • Future skills and workforce development
  • Human and planetary wellbeing in work contexts

The postholder will engage in both academic and industry collaborations, co-produce scholarly and practitioner outputs, contribute to Centre events, and represent the Centre at conferences. Responsibilities include producing peer-reviewed journal articles, practitioner-focused publications, reports, website content, and promotional materials, as well as mentoring junior staff and supporting the Centre’s broader community.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Hold a PhD in a relevant field.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Demonstrated interest in foresight, scenario planning, and business strategy research.

Required Expertise/Skills:

  • Strong experience in academic research and publication.
  • Ability to conduct independent and collaborative foresight research.
  • Skills in translating scholarly research into practitioner-oriented outputs.
  • Effective communication and engagement with academic and industry stakeholders.
  • Experience presenting research at conferences and workshops.

Salary Details:

  • Research Grade 7 (specific salary per University of Oxford pay scale)
