The University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Department of Engineering Science. The successful candidate will contribute to an advanced research programme within a leading academic environment known for excellence in engineering research and innovation.
The role involves conducting high-quality, independent research aligned with the objectives of an externally funded project. The postholder will be responsible for designing and implementing research methodologies, analysing complex data, and contributing to the development of novel approaches within the field.
In addition to research responsibilities, the appointee will prepare and publish findings in high-impact academic journals, present work at conferences, and collaborate closely with academic colleagues and project partners. The position may also involve supporting research group activities, mentoring junior researchers or students, and contributing to the broader academic mission of the department.

Eligibility Criteria
- A PhD (or near completion) in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in conducting independent academic research
- Strong publication record or clear potential to publish in leading journals
Required expertise/skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong background in relevant engineering or scientific methodologies
- Experience in data analysis, modelling, or experimental techniques (as relevant to the project)
- Ability to develop innovative research ideas and methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams
Salary details
Grade 7: £36,024 – £44,263 per annum
