Aston University is seeking to appoint a Low-Carbon and Advanced Building Materials Researcher as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). This role offers an opportunity to work at the interface of academic research and industry, contributing to the development and implementation of innovative, sustainable construction materials and solutions.

The successful candidate will be embedded within both Aston University and the industrial partner organisation, playing a central role in delivering a strategic project focused on low-carbon and advanced building materials. The position involves conducting applied research, developing and testing materials, and supporting the translation of research outcomes into real-world applications.

The role includes managing and delivering project objectives, contributing to technical innovation, and ensuring effective collaboration between academic and industry stakeholders. The post holder will also engage in knowledge transfer activities, support reporting and dissemination of findings, and contribute to the overall success of the KTP programme. This position provides valuable professional development, including the opportunity to gain project management experience and work within a multidisciplinary environment.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should hold a good honours degree in a relevant discipline such as civil engineering, materials science, construction engineering, or a closely related field. A postgraduate qualification (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant area is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate an interest in sustainable construction and low-carbon technologies.

Required expertise/skills
Candidates should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in materials development, testing, or construction-related research. Knowledge of low-carbon materials, sustainability practices, or advanced construction technologies is advantageous. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to facilitate collaboration between academic and industry partners. The ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as part of a team is required.

Salary details
£36,000 to £38,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience), with additional benefits associated with the KTP programme.
