General Description –
The University of Cambridge’s Department of Sociology invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Computational Social Science. The role is part of a collaborative research project examining social dynamics, using computational modeling, large-scale social data analysis, and interdisciplinary approaches to understand societal behaviors and trends.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team, contributing to the design, development, and implementation of computational models, analyzing complex datasets, and interpreting results in a social science context. The position also involves preparing publications, presenting findings at academic conferences, and collaborating with both internal and external project partners.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to advance expertise in computational social science while contributing to impactful, interdisciplinary research within a leading global academic institution.
Eligibility Criteria –
- A PhD (or submitted PhD) in computational social science, sociology, data science, computer science, or a related discipline
- Strong quantitative and computational research background
- Demonstrable experience in working with large datasets and computational modeling
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team
Required expertise/skills –
- Proficiency in programming languages and computational tools such as Python, R, or equivalent
- Experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, or simulation methods
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for academic dissemination
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and contribute to collaborative research projects
Salary details –
£40,792 to £50,132 per annum (dependent on experience)
