Queen Mary University of London’s William Harvey Research Institute invites applications for a full‑time Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cardiovascular Science. This fixed‑term, British Heart Foundation (BHF)‑funded position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated early‑career researcher to work within a highly productive and internationally recognised cardiovascular research environment in central London. The role is designed to advance understanding of cardiovascular biology and disease mechanisms, with a specific focus on translational research that bridges fundamental science and clinical impact. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative project that explores key aspects of endothelial cell biology and vascular plasticity in cardiovascular disease, utilising advanced experimental models and technologies as part of an interdisciplinary team of basic and clinical researchers.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should hold a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in cardiovascular biology, biomedical sciences, physiology, molecular biology, or a closely related discipline relevant to the research focus. Candidates nearing completion and awaiting award of their doctoral degree may also be considered, subject to appointment conditions. A strong academic record and a clear commitment to high‑quality research are expected.

Required Expertise/Skills
Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • A solid background in cardiovascular biology, particularly endothelial cell biology and related laboratory research.

  • Experience with conditional gene knockout models in mice or comparable in vivo systems, including design and execution of related experiments.

  • Proficiency in in vivo cell tracking techniques and single‑cell RNA sequencing or equivalent high‑resolution cellular profiling approaches.

  • Ability to analyse complex biological datasets and integrate diverse experimental outputs.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment.

Salary Details
The salary for this position is in the range of £38,419 to £44,288 per annum, depending on experience and inclusive of the London Allowance.
