Postdoctoral Scientist – Neurobiology (Dr Anne Bertolotti, LMB 2792)

MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB)

Cambridge, United Kingdom

General Description
The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) in Cambridge is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join the research group of Dr Anne Bertolotti within the Neurobiology Division. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases.

The Bertolotti laboratory focuses on understanding how cells respond to protein misfolding and aggregation, processes that are central to many neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and related conditions. The group studies cellular quality-control pathways that maintain protein homeostasis, with a particular focus on mechanisms regulating protein phosphorylation and dephosphorylation and their role in controlling stress responses and protein aggregation.

The successful candidate will undertake innovative research aimed at uncovering fundamental biological mechanisms that influence neurodegeneration and identifying potential therapeutic strategies for diseases driven by protein misfolding. Research in the laboratory integrates biochemical, molecular, cellular, and genetic approaches to study stress response pathways and their regulation in mammalian systems.

The postholder will design and conduct experiments, analyse and interpret complex data, and contribute to the development of new experimental approaches within the research programme. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate research records, preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting findings at internal meetings and international scientific conferences.

The role offers the opportunity to work within the highly collaborative and internationally renowned environment of the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, a world-leading institute for biomedical research. The laboratory provides access to state-of-the-art research facilities and fosters a strong culture of interdisciplinary collaboration among scientists studying molecular and cellular mechanisms of disease.

The position is offered on a fixed-term basis for three years.
