General Description
Queen’s University Belfast is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to join its research team and contribute to high-quality academic research within the University. The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative research environment, supporting the development and delivery of innovative research projects aligned with the strategic priorities of the University.
The role involves undertaking independent and collaborative research, contributing to the planning and execution of research programmes, and supporting the dissemination of research findings through publications, conference presentations, and academic engagement activities. The post holder will work closely with principal investigators, research staff, and academic collaborators, contributing to the overall success of the project and the wider research community.
The Research Fellow will also participate in research meetings, assist with mentoring and supporting junior researchers where appropriate, and contribute to the development of future funding proposals. The role is expected to strengthen the research capacity of the hosting unit and enhance the University’s reputation for excellence in research and innovation. The position is offered on a fixed-term basis and is based at the Queen’s University Belfast campus.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in a relevant discipline related to the research area of the project. Candidates should demonstrate a strong track record of academic research and the ability to conduct independent research within a collaborative academic environment. Evidence of scholarly output, including peer-reviewed publications or equivalent research contributions, is expected.

• Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality academic research
• Experience in designing and implementing research methodologies
• Evidence of publication in peer-reviewed journals or equivalent scholarly outputs
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to collaborative research teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for academic dissemination
• Experience presenting research at conferences, seminars, or academic events
• Ability to contribute to research grant development and collaborative research initiatives
