Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), a premier public university in India, has announced a research recruitment opportunity for the position of Project Associate I in the Department of Zoology. Established on 10 February 1949 under the Poona University Act, the university is located in the north-western part of Pune and spans approximately 411 acres. The institution is widely recognized as the “Oxford of the East” and hosts 46 academic departments, around 307 recognized research institutes, and more than 612 affiliated colleges offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

The selected candidate will work on the research project titled “Survival and stability of probiotics under simulated gastric fluid, simulated intestinal fluid and simulated microgravity condition.” The appointment is purely temporary and intended to support research activities related to microbiology and probiotic stability studies under various simulated biological and environmental conditions. The role will involve assisting in laboratory research, conducting experiments, maintaining documentation, and supporting the research activities of the project under the guidance of the Principal Investigator at the Department of Zoology.

The Project Associate I position is offered for a period of two years and will be based at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email or phone for an offline interview.

Eligibility Criteria

Project Associate I
• M.Sc. degree in Zoology, Microbiology, or Biotechnology with a minimum aggregate of 65% marks (average of all semesters) or a minimum GGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or equivalent from a recognized university.

Required Expertise / Skills

• Experience in microbial culture handling
• Media preparation techniques
• PCR and DNA isolation methods
• Microscopy and laboratory analytical techniques
• Ability to conduct experimental research and maintain laboratory documentation

Salary Details

• Project Fellowship: ₹31,000 per month + 27% HRA (Total ₹39,370 per month)
