Position Overview
The University of Eastern Finland invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioinformatics and Single-Cell Multiomics. This position is part of a research team led by Professor Merja Heinäniemi and is based at the Faculty of Health Sciences on the Kuopio Campus. The successful candidate will contribute to projects aimed at integrating and modelling multi-omics and single-cell datasets to study leukemia biology and immune cell dynamics.
The postdoctoral researcher will work within an interdisciplinary environment, collaborating with experts in computational biology, immunology, gene regulation, and clinical research to develop novel methods and models for personalised medicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct data-driven research focused on leukemia and immune cell dynamics using single-cell and multi-omics datasets.
- Benchmark and develop statistical, AI, and systems biology methods for integrative analysis.
- Prepare high-quality scientific publications and contribute to research proposals.
- Co-supervise PhD students and participate in teaching activities as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (PhD) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Biostatistics, or a closely related field.
- Expertise in bioinformatics and multi-omics data analysis, including single-cell omics.
- Strong analytical and programming skills, and experience with statistical modelling.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Salary and Benefits
The position is appointed under Finnish university salary scales. The base salary is approximately €3,293.89 per month, with an additional personal performance component (6–50%), resulting in a starting gross salary of around €3,620–€4,020 per month.
